Terranova

Mechanical Engineer
As part of this year-long senior capstone project, I worked on a team of six mechanical engineers to create a jumping and wheeled robot for the exploration of the Moon's subsurface during NASA's upcoming Artemis mission. By implementing finite element analysis (FEA) and topology optimization, I reduced the robot mass by 41% and enabled the TerraNova robot to jump to a height of 1.2 m under the Moon's gravity. The project earned us the 2019 William K. Gemmill Memorial Prize and Second Place in the nationwide Cornell Cup Competition.

Researcher
I worked with roboticist and Penn professor Dr. Mark Yim to develop and prototype a low-cost, underactuated grasping device comprised of a string of sequentially closing phalanges. The device operated like an octopus tentacle to grasp a variety of oddly shaped objects.

Asymmetric Operations Intern
I designed the sensing, electrical, and software technology behind the Smart Pillbox, a wearable pill-delivery device. I had the honor of presenting our product at the 2014 Healthcare Ignition Grant Colloquium to APL investors and employees.

Summer 2019
bresslergroup

Junior Mechanical Engineer
I designed, prototyped, and tested electro-mechanical products for clients spanning the consumer, industrial, and medical sectors. My most challenging and rewarding project was the mechanical and electrical repair of 1,000 wearable Music: Not Impossible devices. These devices translate sound to tactile vibrations and seek to enrich the concert-going experience for the hearing-impaired.
Summer 2018
Insight Product Development

Development Engineer
I designed, prototyped, and tested auto-injectors, breath-actuated inhalers, and other drug delivery devices, interfacing weekly with pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. During my time with Insight, I also devised and fabricated a testing rig for high-speed video analysis of autoinjectors and wrote a companion testing and validation protocol.
Summers 2015- 2017

Assistant Unit Leader
I grew up at this summer camp, and it was personally important for me to give back to the community that shaped my upbringing.
After completing the three-year Leadership Training Program, I managed four bunks of campers ages 7-9, meeting individual needs, resolving interpersonal conflicts, and planning sports and music clinics.

TALK TO ME ABOUT
comedy writing

For two years, I served as the Editor-in-Chief and Design Director of the Pennsylvania Punch Bowl, Penn's oldest comedy magazine. Over this time we grew online readership by 3X and writing staff size by 2X. I am most proud of the latter. It was an honor leading this diverse and wicked-funny group.

In high school, I founded the first ever Songs of Love club (under the foundation of the same name), where aspiring high school musicians could write personalized songs for children facing medical, physical, and emotional challenges. My love of music - and the joy it brings - continues today.
